Soorya Bhagwan

Lord Soorya in his Chariot with Aruna (The Charioteer) and the seven coloured horses to pull his one wheeled chariot. The names of the Seven Horses are Gayatri, Brhati, Usnik, Jagati, Tristup, Anustup and Pankti. I painted each horse with different colour. This is the painting that i keep in every soorya pooja on a 'Pongal Day' -The harvest festival of the state of Tamil Nadu, celebrated praying to the Sun God, the source of energy for all the living beings in the world.

Scratch Painting - II (A sparrow)

A sparrow in the field.

Scratch Painting - I (Thirupathi Balaji)

Scratch painting is done using oil pastels. First the colour of pastel of your choice is applied in the appropriate part, then the entire base it coated with Black Pastel. Using a used empty ball pen point, compass needle have the scratch the coats of pastels and create design. It is has to be done carefully as re-working will spoil its beauty.

Kundavai is Raja Raja Chozhan's sister who is also an important charachter in the novel 'Ponniyin Selvan'

Brahadeshwar temple - the architectural wonder by Raja Raja Chozhan

Got inspiration to draw this after Reading the Famous Novel 'Ponniyin Selvan' written by Kalki.Krishnamurthy. Raja Rajan had a big dream of building a world famous architecture (now the Thanjavur Brahadeshwar Temple) from his younger days and later in his life built the temple. This scene came in my mind and i drew this pencil sketch.

The important point in this structural wonder is that the shadow of the temple viman never falls in the ground!

Crochet Toran / crochet Thoranam - 1

I did this some years back borrowing the thoran from my old neighbour. The base chain begins at the side and prodeeds horizontally creating the length you see in the picture. Hanging portion is done simultaneously.
