Wall Art - Buddha - for switch board

It is alway nice to bring some changes in our home, isn't it?. Why not do it in an artistic and inexpensive way?!!  So for next few days I will be sharing with you those wall arts....

Today I am sharing with you a wall art that I have done near the switch board.  This make that place look lively and interesting.

When people visit us, they first ring the bell... that's the first place where we can display our artistic work at our home! So here I am sharing what I have done near the calling bell switch.

Meditating Buddha represent peace and knowledge. I found this the best one to welcome someone with an artistic touch!

If you wish to give it a try, here is the link for the tutorial..... "Wall Art Tutorial"

Have a great time!

Wall Art Tutorial - Easy and Inexpensive wall decor

Hi There!!

It is always nice to bring some changes in our home. Why not do it in an artistic and inexpensive way?!!

Silohouette Wall Art!!!

You don't know how to draw or you don't like to draw? No problem, You can still decorate your walls with this simple art!

You can do it on the plain wall or near the switch boards or on the plain door. The paint should be washable one so that if you want to change your theme you can do it by gently removing the old silhouettes and with a sponge can clean that wall and put your new silhouette theme over there.

Since Kid's summer vaccation is also nearing, you can take their help thus they are also engaged in an artistic craft thus help in productive time pass! Small hands can make big wonder!

What you need are... :-

  1. First, Choose a theme that suits that room.
  2. Buy Materials (Black Chart, White Pencil, Scissor, Paper Cutter and Fevistick).   If you cannot draw but want to trace, then you will also need Yellow Carbon, Empty Ball Pen and theme in a trace paper.
  3. Clean that wall area (the paint should be washable one).
  4. Get into ACtion!!!

  • You can choose your own theme as per the room you are going to decorate. Could be animal, birds, humans, insects, Plants, Trees etc.  Silhouettes are the best, without much of drawing work. since you don't require any detail to be done. All you need is an outline. Keep it simple to make your work easy.

  • Then clean the wall area, to ensure the surface is smooth and dust free. Let it dry (moist free).

  • Draw the outlines for the theme of your choice using a white pencil, on the Black Chart. Or You can copy a design from trace paper to the black chart using a white or yellow carbon. since the outline will be faintly visible, use a white pencil and lightly draw a visible guiding line over the traced feature on the chart.

  • Before you cut, spread a paper as this will ensure that the waste fall on the paper thus minimising your cleaning after your work is done.  Cut carefully over the outline, nicely using a scissor or paper cutter. I first cut that part from the chart and then work on fine cutting over the outline to make the process easy!

  • Apply Glue stick or fevistick on the back of the cut silhouette and then paste it nicely on the wall. You can use a waste cloth while sticking them by gently pressing the work.

Abra Cadabra! Tada!! A beautiful wall decor is ready to bring your room Alive!

Decorative Stickers using Gift Wrapper

Used, gift wrapper for this project. This wrapper was with me for the last 4 years which I saved after carefully removing it with a hope it may be of some use in my craft works.

Recently when I was organizing things, I saw this and wanted put it to use. So quickly came the idea of decorating the plain door at the entrance.

Being an animal lover, decided to bring in the birds and animals into the work as it brings life into it. So surfed the net for some wildlife theme and finally hit upon these beautiful stags. Drew it on a plain A4 size paper and copied the design into the gift wrapper using a carbon paper.

Working with gift wrapper is not an easy task as it is very thin and tears-off easily during drawing, cutting as well as sticking procedure. Very smooth to handle, slips off the hand easily. So should be done carefully & patiently.

I have taken two types of photos. One with Flash and one without Flash. Sharing both the photos here.

Without Flash

The above one is without flash. Giving below the 'with flash' effect... see the beautiful hues of colours reflecting...

On the side panel I made this small decorative sticker....

Our neighbour's grand daughter - a toddler, is attracted by this work and her mischievous fingers do play with these stickings frequently because of the shine & hues of colours this sticker creates.... :-)  But it brings a smile in me as it only brings the picture of 10 little fingers in my mind :D

Kitchen decoration

After my first trial attempts of aquatic life here I am seriously into decorating my kitchen ...... decorating the otherwise boring plain walls keeps me busy and gives a different touch the kitchen. This is the place where I spend more time so this small makeover means a lot......

Things you need :-

  1. Black Chart -1 No
  2. Pencil
  3. Scale
  4. Glue stick
  5. White acrylic paint
  6. Paint brush "zero"
  7. White A4 sheet or a rough paper
  8. Scissor
Procedure:-

  • Draw the design you want to make in a white paper
  • Spread the black chart and rightly draw the design you have decided
  • using a sharp small scissor (it is easy to cut accurate shapes), cut the required shapes.
  • To some shapes where you cannot cut the middle portion e.g. letters etc, you can use the white acrylic paint and zero brush and draw the designs or do a patch work to add beauty to the cut shapes.
  • Apply glue to the wrong side and paste it on the wall and the door
The kitchen door

Lotus in the Pond - crochet candle light decor

Happily presenting to your eyes, a new addition to my home decor.....

Aren't they so cute?!!........

I made the Lotus and leaves then attached them. As I always try to make things that are user friendly to wash & dry, made two detachable leaves. To facilitate that added a strap & press button to fix them to the flower.  Just make addtional round of loops at the end round of the flower, to make way for the leaves to be attached to the flower.

Thus the strap will become invisible as it goes behind the leaf.

I thought of attaching a bud in the centre but then kept it for my next project as this one I can use  as a table decor. The candle with holder will sit in the centre portion of the flower.

A nice decor for a candle light dinner! :-)  smiley
